"Mac's Auto Services II I have been using Mac's II for several years for my two family vehicles. I have been extremely pleased with their service. They honor scheduled appointments but will squeeze you in for an emergency. They maintain a database of all work and will tell you when a part they replace, such as a exhaust system component is covered under warranty has been replaced at no charge.
Their Customer Service personnel are cheerful and friendly and make a serious attempt to get to know you by name. Their mechanics are polite and knowledgeable. I once asked for a quote to repair a scuff mark on my new car's bumper. One of their collision people came out and showed me how to take care of it myself for just a few dollars.
They maintain two comfortable shuttle vehicles so you can drop your car off in the morning, get a lift to work and later in the day they will pick you up and return you to their service center. This is a very customer-friendly operation with competitive rates."

Mac's II is an independent full service auto repair center built for one purpose; to help you with your car. Being an independent shop, we are not a franchise and we are not a dealer. We are a Rochester based family owned auto repair business that has been helping people with their vehicles for over 75 years.
Mac Gan started this business in his parents backyard on Langham Street in 1935. He was 17 years old. Pictured below are Mac’s parents! Today it is owned by his son Ken.
There were a few years in the 1980's when there were two locations. When the second location opened in 1986, it was called Mac's II. Upon the sale of the original shop on Seneca Avenue in 1990, it was decided to continue to call the Brighton location Mac's II. There is only one location even though it is called Mac's II.
In 1993, Ken finally realized the obvious! The acronym MACS represents: Mechanical And Collision Service: A term that has been used in our marketing for years. But Mac is truly his father's name.
You’ve probably heard by now that there is a shortage of quality technicians to repair your car. They’re leaving the industy because their pay plans don’t work and they can’t make any money.
I’m Ken Gan, owner of Mac’s II Mechanical And Collision Service, and I’d like to tell you how I pay my technicians.
You see, most shops pay by flat rate, which means hours billed, and commission, which means dollars sold. This is a conflict of interest. How can they be doing their customer’s justice when their incentive is to maximize YOUR bill? Mac’s II is different.
Our service technicians are paid only by the hour. No one makes any more or less money by selling additional parts or labor. This philosophy insures that our customers will be sold only the repairs needed and the technician can take the time to do the job properly. It also creates a cooperative and enjoyable atmosphere that is obvious the minute you step through our door.
My people enjoy being here. You’ll enjoy being here.
